Bath & Body Works Introduce New Candles for Men
Bath & Body Works is shaking things up with its latest product line: candles for men. Yes, you heard that right. The company that once dominated the world of floral-scented bath bombs is now venturing into the largely untapped market that is man.
“When it came to my attention that men also have noses, and they use them almost everyday, I knew we had to corner this market before word got out,” said Bath & BodyWorks VP of Product Innovation Rebecca Stone-Jackson.
The “XY” line, set for release early October, features a quintet of distinctive scents, including:
“Bob the Builder”: Evokes childhood memories with the aroma of a hardware store on a Saturday morning with Dad.
“Pit Boss”: A sanctuary of hickory wood chips, ribs, and a slathering of smokey Kansas City sauce.
“Optimus Prime”: A symphony of steel and solvent, an ode to the auto body shop with the raw sexual magnetism of Brando’s Stanley Kowalski in Tennessee Williams’ A Street Car Named Desire that’ll have you screaming “STELLAAAAA!”
“Yes, Chef!”: Where every breath in smells like Jeremy Allen White is yelling at you.
“Green Jacket”: Captures the fresh, dewy atmosphere of Augusta National’s first tee at dawn on championship Sunday.
The line has been called a “cornucopia of the male soul” by critics at Esquire and has already been added to GQ’s Essentials of Fall ’24.
Needing to satisfy the male psyche’s craving for utility, Stone-Jackson explains that her team aimed to give the candles a practical edge. “It couldn’t just smell good,” she said. “It had to do something.” So, as an added bonus, you can scrape the remaining wax from the bottom of the glass once the wicks have reached their end — revealing beneath the image of Chuck Norris giving the thumbs-up. Add the wax to water and shake in a blender bottle for three minutes — and voilà — its now a 7-in-1 shampoo, body wash, conditioner, face wash, deodorant, shaving cream, and hair gel.
The “XY” line hits Bath & Body Works stores on October 1st, with the slogan: “Be a Man. Light a Candle.”
