Today is Wednesday, October 9th, and these are the top stories making headlines halfway through the week:

  • Starting tomorrow, Oct. 10, McDonalds across the country will offer a Chicken Big Mac, swapping the two all beef patties with a pair of tempura battered chicken patties. A marketing executive at McDonalds said they decided to call it a Chicken Big Mac because focus groups had mixed feelings about “The Mother Clucker.”

  • President Biden on Tuesday announced $2.6 billion in funding to replace all lead pipes in the United States as part of a new EPA rule that will require lead pipes to be identified and replaced within 10 years. After the removal, the White House says the nation’s lead pipes will return to their original intended purpose of busting kneecaps.

  • The bottom of a Frontier Airlines plane caught on fire after landing in Las Vegas — Which is weird because usually people leave Vegas with a burning in their undercarriage.

  • According to a Wall Street Journal repot, Viktor Bout, a Russian arms dealer known as the “Merchant of Death” who was released from US prison in a 2022 swap for WNBA star Brittney Griner, is back in business and selling weapons to Houthi rebels in Yemen. On the bright side, Brittney Griner can freely bounce a ball.

  • In Cape Town, South Africa, Uber is now offering a $200 safari. Although, if you find yourself in a pack of gazelle without a driver, it wasn’t you that ordered Uber Eats.
