Today is Wednesday, February 26th, and these are the top stories making headlines halfway through the week:

  • The odd pairing of a cat and a sheep won the annual “Couple of the Year” award at the Odessa Zoo in Ukraine — Explaining their choice, zoo officials said they picked the diametrically opposed couple in light of the success of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.

  • Doctors are warning against a viral TikTok trend that has users dropping heavy objects on their feet. Yet another TikTok trend that begs the question — are we sure everyone should vote?

  • A “remarkably rotund” beaver from Chicago has become the latest internet animal sensation, after a video of the chonker went viral. For more exclusive fat beaver content, you can subscribe to its OnlyDams.

  • Nicolas Cage's ex is suing him and their son, saying son Weston Cage beat her and dad shares the blame. Christina Fulton intends to sue Weston Cage for assault and battery and Nicolas Cage for failing to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence. Naturally, the case will be settled in what legal experts call a “Cage Match.”

  • Starbucks announced layoffs of over 1,000 corporate staffers this week. Although the way it was written, there was some confusion among employees over whether they were firing Alice or Alex, Ronald or Arnold, and Sabrina or Serena.

  • A new study finds narcissists feel more excluded than their less self-absorbed peers. Narcissists say the worst part is knowing they only have themselves to blame.
